Job summary Applications are now open for one of our two Royal College of Surgeons accredited Bariatric Clinical Fellowships. The fellowship programme is now in its 16th year. The training is delivered by a team of four experienced bariatric surgeons.We currently perform about 600 bariatric procedures per year, with patients referred through our NHS contract as well as self-funding routes. The Phoenix Fellowship program has a strong reputation for providing excellent, comprehensive training in all aspects of bariatric surgery. Fellows also have opportunities for clinical research, with many recent graduates securing Upper GI Consultant posts in major teaching hospitals directly after completing the fellowship. Fellows will be involved in day-to-day ward management and outpatient care, gaining experience in multidisciplinary bariatric surgery service, including MDT meetings, outpatient care, and laparoscopic bariatric surgery. Clinical Training Fellows are likely to gain experience in a range of primary and revisional bariatric surgery procedures. By the end of the 12-month Fellowship, Fellows are likely to be able to independently perform gastric band removals, gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, One anastomosisgastric bypass) and sleeve gastrectomy procedures. Fellows will be encouraged to participate in clinical research and will have access to mentoring in clinical research methodology as part of the program.
