An exciting development opportunity has arisen for an experienced and senior nurse to support in leading the teams on Ward 24 (Oncology) and Ward 33 (Haematology) at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
We are looking for a highly enthusiastic individual to complement the management team in leading our existing teams on the Oncology / Haematology Wards.
Both Wards are 12 bedded, accommodating Oncology / Haematology patients who are admitted onto the wards for diagnostic investigations, chemotherapy treatments, acute complications and for palliative care. The wards work closely with the acute oncology service and the Oncology / Haematology day unit.
Main duties of the job
This is a key post in the provision of supporting nursing leadership and management for the ward & departmental teams. Communicating with the consultants, nursing staff, junior medical staff, patients and relatives is an essential aspect of the role. This role is key to ensuring that excellent standards of care are consistently maintained, and the post holder will be expected to be a positive role model for the team.
Applicants should have:
* Previous experience of acute nursing at band 5 for a minimum of 2 years
* Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills
* Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
* Awareness of budgetary control
* Good leadership skills and the ability to work under pressure
* Intravenous drug administration, cannulation and Phlebotomy skills
* A dedication to providing a high standard of service.
* The ability to work flexibly to cover needs of service

Experience
* Post registration experience, including basic leadership and management of clinical shifts in ward environment
* Optimising patient flow, working with SAFER principles
* Appropriate escalation including workforce
* Experience of working in a relevant clinical specialty
* Experience of participating in clinical audit

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to lead and work as part of a team

* IV Skills: Phlebotomy and drug administration and cannulation
