Starting salary £28,879 - £33,232 per annum
The University is seeking to appoint a full-time, permanent Welsh Translator to join its Welsh Language Unit.
The postholder will play a key role in strengthening the University’s Welsh translation service, working with colleagues at all levels across the institution.
Based at Pontypridd, with some home working, this role will allow you to utilise your range of translation, organisational and interpersonal skills.
As part of a small translation team, the main purpose of the role is to provide the University with a high quality, customer-focused and responsive Welsh translation service. You will be motivated and able to work under pressure to produce translations of a high standard, within a timely manner. In addition to excellent translation skills, you should have experience of responding to translation requests, and managing your workload effectively. The content and nature of the work will be varied, reflecting the wide variety of academic faculties and professional services departments within the University. From April 2025, the Welsh Language Unit will be responsible for the University Switchboard, and you will be part of the call-handling team (on a rota basis), delivering a high quality bilingual service to callers to the University’s main phoneline.
Simultaneous translation skills are desirable, but not essential.
This is a full-time, permanent role.
The University is currently operating a hybrid model of working. However, the successful candidate would be expected to work on campus for part of the week.
