Applications are invited from qualified Scrub / Anaesthetic Practitioners who wish to provide dynamic support to the surgeons, anaesthetists, and the theatre teams. This post is looking to strengthen the structure within the Friarage theatre team, and both scrub/Anaesthetic & Recovery positions are available.
The operating department at The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton currently comprises of 5 main in-patient/day case theatres and a recovery area. The Friarage is currently undergoing an exciting development of a brand new Surgical Hub which will offer state-of-the-art technologies and a modern working environment. This will increase the theatre complex to 6 main theatres, 2 minor ops theatres, a 2 bay regional anaesthetic area, and a 10 bay recovery area with onsite admission and discharge areas.
Main duties of the job
The theatres provide an operating service to the following clinical specialities:
1. General Surgery
2. Gynaecology
3. Urology
4. Plastic Surgery
5. Orthopaedics
6. Maxillo-facial
7. ENT
8. Ophthalmic
You will need to be an active member of the multidisciplinary team by demonstrating a range of essential skills to meet the needs of the patient in a safe caring environment that promotes evidence-based practice.
The theatre accommodates the following major specialities:
1. General Surgery

3. Urology
4. Gynaecology
5. Plastics
6. ENT
7. Maxillo Facial
8. Ophthalmic
9. Pain and Spinal Surgery
The Centre is committed to staff development and offers a good competency-based training package with rotational expectations. Staff will also be at times expected to work across site at the main tertiary centre at James Cook University Hospital. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop their skills in an exciting multi-speciality environment. Good communication and organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential to this post.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. After you complete this four and a half days of training, you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3, 5, and 7.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Knowledge and experience of providing person-centred care
* Work in line with the Trust Code of Conduct
* Excellent communication and listening skills and adopts an appropriate style and method of communication
Qualifications
* RN or ODP with an active professional registration with either the RCN or HCPC
* Degree or Diploma in Nursing or Operating Department practice
Experience
* Ability to work within the boundaries of the HPC Code of Professional conduct.
* Previous experiences of working in an acute health care setting
* Implementing the 6 C's of practice
* Effectively prioritises and co-ordinates own work
* A team player able to work well with others and demonstrate commitment to team objectives

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 a year (pro rata)
