Purpose:
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will play a crucial role in delivering accurate and timely monthly Management Accounts. This position is integral to providing in-depth financial insights that drive informed decision-making across the business. Acting as a key finance partner to departments across the company, the Management Accountant will ensure robust financial reporting, assist in budgetary control, and provide proactive financial guidance to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
Hybrid role: 3 days in central London office / 2 days from home
Salary: 55k - 65k
Main responsibilities:
* Prepare and deliver accurate monthly Management Accounts for group subsidiaries, including variance analysis.
* Own the inventory accounting and valuation process, ensuring freight costs, duties, and other direct costs are correctly accounted for.
* Work closely with merchandising, logistics, and product teams to uphold best practices in inventory management and financial control.
* Reconcile and align inventory and COGS between stock system and management accounts, ensuring financial accuracy.
* Drive sales and margin reporting improvements, ensuring cost of sales and warehouse expenses are correctly allocated.
* Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations across all subsidiaries, ensuring financial integrity.
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies, supporting the external audit process with clear documentation.
* Assist with the preparation of Statutory Accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and best practices.
* Support the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring financial plans are accurate and aligned with strategic business goals.
* Act as the finance super user for Open Accounts, attending training and providing expert guidance on system queries.
* Continuously seek to improve and automate financial processes and controls, challenge the status quo to drive efficiency, faster month-end closing, and enhanced reporting accuracy.
* Support senior management with ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required, contributing to strategic decision-making.
Requirements
* Qualified accountant.
* Proven experience in a consumer business, retail, or fashion industry is highly desirable.
* Experience of working with and accounting for stock in a multi-national business.
* Good IFRS and UK GAAP knowledge and experience; US GAAP and French GAAP would be an advantage.
* Strong analytical and financial modelling skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Experience of working in a fast-paced and fast-growth environment.
