Head of Finance / Finance Director – Stockport £75-80k + Bonus + Bens

Our client, a thriving £9 million turnover specialist manufacturing company based in Stockport, is seeking an experienced Head of Finance / Finance Director to join their dynamic leadership team.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing all financial operations and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's continued growth and expansion. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be a key member of the senior management team, contributing to high-level decision-making and helping to shape the company's future direction and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash flow management, and profit & loss
* Manage accounting activities such as income auditing, accounts payable/receivable, tax compliance, and payroll
* Monitor and optimize the use of financial resources including capex, working capital, opex, credit control, and supplier terms
* Create and monitor operational budgets and KPIs, reporting performance to the board
* Ensure financial compliance, controls, and continuous improvement across the business
* Provide strategic financial input and decision support to the leadership team
* Manage relationships with accountants, banks, partners, and regulatory bodies
* Accountable for audit compliance and company financial policies
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with significant experience in a senior finance leadership role, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with at least 5 years experience in senior finance leadership
* Proven track record as a Finance Director or in a comparable senior finance role
* Experience managing and developing a finance function, driving change and innovation
* Strong communication and collaboration skills across multi-functional teams
* Ability to communicate effectively with Finance and non-finance people both internally and externally
* Expertise in financial systems, processes, and ERP environments
* Hands-on experience in cash flow management, financial controls, and policies
* Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to contribute to strategic decision-making
* Demonstrable commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
