NHS Highland Cancer Services are seeking to recruit an experienced cancer nurse to join our team to provide nursing leadership for our SACT services. The key components of the role are:
To work as Lead SACT Nurse, in partnership with Lead Clinician and Lead Pharmacist SACT, as member of NHS Highland Lead SACT Team to deliver requirements of CEL 30 (updated 2023 ) within NHS Highland and NHS Western Isles.
To be an expert practitioner in all aspects of SACT, providing expert professional advice to the organisation, patients, carers and staff.
To act as Nurse Consultant for Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT).
To lead on developments and service redesign as appropriate for the administration of SACT across NHS Highland and NHS Western Isles in conjunction with the NHS Highland Lead SACT team, cancer nurse consultant, local managers and when appropriate, North Cancer Alliance to meet the needs of patients and families receiving treatment with SACT.
To influence practice, providing a consultative, leadership and educational role to professional colleagues of all specialties, involved in the delivery of care to patients receiving SACT for the treatment of cancer and their families. To maintain clinical excellence and to promote Raigmore Hospital Cancer Centre and NHS Highland locally, regionally and nationally as centre of excellence in the delivery of SACT.
If you are a self motivated cancer nurse with extensive experience working at band 7 level, hold a Masters degree (or level 11 modules) and have a vision for how nursing can continue to provide and develop SACT services across the geography of Highland and Western Isles, we would love to hear from you.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
