Job Description:
Are you an experienced support worker seeking a role in education? Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism?
A friendly and unique Special School in Swindon is seeking an Autism Support Worker to join their team full-time starting in September. The school caters for children and young people with Autism as their primary need. There are also pupils with learning difficulties, communication challenges, and ADHD. This is therefore the perfect opportunity for an experienced Support Worker or recent Graduate to further their experience with Special Educational Needs.
As an Autism Support Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher and provide 1-2-1 support during lessons. You will build a strong relationship with all pupils and learn to cater to each of their social and emotional needs. You will help manage any challenging behaviour that may arise and ensure each pupil is engaged and focused in class. Above all else, you will help make the classroom a fun, safe, and exciting environment.
The school is looking for an enthusiastic and bubbly Autism Support Worker who has a passion for supporting vulnerable young people. A recent graduate would be perfect for this role, with a relevant degree in Psychology, Criminology, or Sociology, as well as knowledge of neurodiversity. Any experience working with Autism would be beneficial, whether professional or personal. Empathy and flexibility are also important skills!
The school day runs from 8:30 am to 3:15 pm, and the school is looking for an Autism Support Assistant who can work full-time, Monday to Friday.
