Autism Support Assistant – OUTSTANIDNG School in Harrow An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Autism Support Assistant to join a forward-thinking school in Harrow. In this role, you will provide tailored 1:1 support to children with autism, working closely with a dedicated SEN team to ensure each child receives the care and guidance they need to succeed. Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to children with autism, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop social skills. Work alongside the SENCO and teaching staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies. Assist with the social and emotional development of students, ensuring they feel safe and supported within the school environment. Adapt classroom activities and materials to meet the specific needs of each student. Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers, SENCO, and parents. Support positive behaviour and help students manage sensory and communication challenges. Collaborate with external professionals such as speech and language therapists and educational psychologists when needed. Experience and Qualifications: Experience working with children with autism in an educational or care setting. Knowledge of autism and associated behaviours, with an understanding of how to support children with sensory and communication needs. A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting children with SEN. Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with staff, parents, and external specialists. Relevant qualifications in SEN support or teaching assistance are desirable. A DBS check is required.
