We have an exciting opportunity within Community Day Services for a new Support Worker, working within the East Kent locality, supporting individuals with learning and physical disabilities to access and be a part of their local community whilst improving and developing essential life skills.
You will be working from hubs as well as within community settings. You will be supporting individuals with learning and physical disabilities to reach their goals by planning to achieve outcome-focused sessions. Although your base will be within Shepway Community Day Service, which currently supports across three different hubs located in Hythe, Folkestone, and New Romney, you will be required to work across all three hubs and support other services within the wider East Kent teams.
You will be trained in manual handling to manage all mobility needs and assist with personal care. You will assist in meeting the needs and aspirations of the individuals we support by using a person-centered approach, providing them with encouragement, support, and assistance, promoting their social inclusion, rights, and choices under the supervision and direction of a senior member of staff and within the context of County and Directorate procedures, as well as primary care legislation, to enable individuals to live more independent and fulfilled lives.
Relevant experience in care and support of individuals (this can include voluntary experience and individual experiences as well as paid work), including within the public, private, or voluntary sectors in the care of adults, working with people with learning disabilities is essential. You will need to have an awareness of the needs of people with learning disabilities, challenging behavior, autism, epilepsy, and other disabilities.
