Overview of Role
As a Platform Engineer, you will create and maintain the tools and infrastructure that enable our product engineers to work more efficiently and securely. Your work will be pivotal in developing standards and best practices, ensuring that our platform is robust, scalable, and dependable.
Be responsible for and deliver:
• Build and maintain the central infrastructure that is foundational to our platform – e.g. AKS clusters, API gateways.
• Create and maintain standards and ways of working that enable us to manage key non-functional requirements, such as security and cost optimisation.
• Collaborate with product engineers to understand their pain points and prioritise the platform engineering backlog.
• Participate in architecture design sessions to ensure our platform capabilities are aligned with business goals.
• Enable product engineers to build on the platform successfully through collaborating with teams, running knowledge sharing sessions and maintaining clear documentation.
• Maintain and continuously look to improve CI/CD pipelines.
• Update documentation, policies and procedures as well as ensuring that they are followed.
• Monitoring and remediation of vulnerabilities.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions that provide a competitive edge.
What we would like from you….
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or demonstratable knowledge of infrastructure and automation related technologies.
• Experience in a similar role at a company with a distributed cloud architecture.
• Experience with containerisation and Kubernetes
• Experience implementing effective CICD pipelines, along with the associated scripting and automation skills, including setup, maintenance, and improvement
• Familiarity in network and container security rules.
• Experience administering GNU-Linux systems.
• You know what good platform engineering looks like and can help us shape the outcomes for this role.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps and how to create secure delivery pipelines.
• Ability to make pragmatic, risk-based decisions that balance the commercial objectives of the business with non-functional requirements of the technology platform.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
It would be great if you already have…
• Experience with Kustomize, helm
• Experience with Azure DevOps
• Familiarity with tools for Kubernetes YAML quality checks.
• Proficient in PowerShell Scripting, Bash Scripting, Python, C#
• Design of Highly Available Systems
• Certification in Kubernetes, Azure, or other relevant areas is a plus.
