As the Group Health, Safety and Environment Officer, you will play a key role in delivering expert HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidance throughout Brigade. Your work will support employee safety, regulatory compliance with ISO 45001 standards, and environmental sustainability efforts in alignment with ISO 14001 and other relevant standards.
Key Responsibilities
* HSE Expertise: Act as the in-house expert on health and safety compliance, leading initiatives and implementing preventive safety measures across all Brigade locations.
* Site Inspections: Conduct routine safety inspections, site tours, and audits to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and internal policies.
* Fire & Emergency Protocols: Manage fire safety, emergency procedures, and the regular testing of alarms, lighting, and water safety systems.
* Employee Training: Lead HSE inductions for new employees and contractors, assess training needs, and promote a culture of safe practices across the workforce.
* Risk Management: Assist in risk assessments, maintain the COSHH register, and review contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
* Incident Investigations & Reporting: Investigate incidents, monitor HSE performance, and prepare KPI-based reports for Board-level reviews.
* Policy Development: Develop and refine policies and procedures, including the Company Environmental Policy, to stay in step with the latest standards.
* Sustainability & Compliance: Ensure compliance with ESOS and ISO 50001, and champion the company’s sustainability strategy.
* Emergency Preparedness: Oversee First Aiders and Fire Marshals, ensuring safety equipment is regularly inspected and ready.
Required Skills and Experience
* Demonstrated experience in a similar HSE role.
* Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
* IEMA Certificate in environmental management (preferred).
* Knowledge of Continuous Improvement (5S, Kaizen) and familiarity with PUWER.
* Experience with risk assessments, safe work systems, and accident investigation.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships.
* Highly organized and able to multitask effectively, even under pressure.
* Driven, proactive, and able to adapt to shifting priorities.
* Willing to travel to both domestic and international sites (valid passport required).
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office; fluency in an additional European language (German, Italian, Dutch, French, or Polish) is advantageous
