Positioned within the commercial team, you will be right in the centre of a fast-paced team. The Senior Assistant Buyer role will support the Senior Buyer to bring the most compelling range and great value products to our customers.
As a Senior Assistant Buyer within the Built In and Integrated team, you will be working within one of the most exciting categories in MDA, building relationships with brands like Bosch, Samsung and Hotpoint who are at the leading edge of cooking technology. This role will be responsible for managing the range at SKU level and working closely with the Senior Buyer, Merchandising, Online and GTM teams to drive sales and profitability of the category. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has a sharp eye for detail, enjoys working in a busy department, and has the ability to work autonomously.
To support your development, you'll have the opportunity to complete a Level 4 apprenticeship in Buying & Merchandising! You'll be able to start your apprenticeship after 3 months of joining the team (subject to eligibility).
Role overview:
As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:
* Supporting the Senior Buyer on projects
* Taking ownership of a specific area once bedded into the role
* Taking a leading role in the MDA Assistant Buyer community
* Deputising for the Senior Buyer when required
* Pivotal in creating annual departmental strategy with the Senior Buyer
* Helping to manage supplier relationships in line with the category strategy
* Selecting and negotiating product ranges and pricing
* Keeping tabs on the competition to set competitive prices
* Analysing trading performance and recommending actions to drive our business
* Supporting the Senior Buyer in negotiating product ranges - cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, stock availability
* Pricing the product range in line with agreed category CPI targets
You will need:
* 2-4 years' experience as an established Assistant Buyer and a great working knowledge of technical products
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* To be organised, analytical, and numerate with good judgment
* Strong commercial awareness and a sense of customer needs
* Marketing/Merchandising/Retail/Business Degree
