The Group’s Agribusiness Division (Lakeland Agri) operates a state-of-the-art Animal Feed Manufacturing Facility and is a leading and innovative provider of the highest quality feeds and agricultural inputs to dairy, beef, and sheep farmers across the north and south of Ireland.
Applications are invited for the above position that will be based at our Artigarvan Site in County Tyrone.
The Role
Reporting to our Environmental Manager, the successful applicant will ensure the smooth and efficient planning and operation of our Water Treatment & Effluent Plant ensuring legal compliance and water reduction while adding cost benefit to the business.
This essential position will ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures while being a site environmental “Champion”, providing technical knowledge to our site management team in supporting with key decision making.
Additional key responsibilities will include (Not limited to):
* Ensure that effective policies and procedures are both implemented and in place to fulfil the company’s energy and environmental strategy.
* Promote and raise awareness of the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether legislative, best practice, corporate, ethical and social responsibility.
* Ensure that all staff are fully aware of their duties and responsibilities to the environment and provide formal training on this as and when required.
* Supervise operation of the effluent plant, ensuring that corrective action is taken in the event of spillage.
* Monitor and adjust inputs/ingredients into the plant on a daily basis to maintain an effective biological process and ensure optimum output.
* Ensure departmental KPIs are met, analysed regularly and necessary action taken where these are not met.
* Implement and promote continuous improvement activities through implementation of changes where appropriate.
* Regularly review methods, systems, staffing numbers and processes to ensure a cost-effective and efficient operation.
The Person
Possessing a 3rd level qualification in a science/environmental related discipline, the successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, sound knowledge of water treatment/effluent plant operations and experience of using environmental management systems and Microsoft Office packages.
Experience of dealing with statutory bodies and/or managing and coordinating audits would be advantageous.
