Job Description:
Axcis Education are seeking an experienced 1-1 social and behavioural Teaching Assistant to work with a year 7 pupil with social, emotional, and mental health needs and challenging behaviour. The role involves working 1-1 alongside the pupil to encourage them to remain in class and engage in lessons.
The pupil has SEMH and is very energetic. He is a flight risk, so the ideal candidate for this role must be fit, energetic, and able to encourage sensible choices. Strong communication, negotiation skills, and a calm demeanor are essential traits for this role.
The child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and there will be a risk assessment put in place. The school is a large Special Educational Needs school in Dawlish with extensive grounds, resources, and supportive staff who are eager to help you settle in.
The school provides forest school, speech and language therapists, therapy dogs, and apprentice schemes. There is a car park on site, and bus and train routes are easily accessible.
The student needs to build a relationship with you to support their development and confidence. Over time, the goal is to minimize the amount of outdoor time the child requires and keep them in class with peers and teachers. This will be a long-term goal, and if achievable, it could lead to a long-term job role.
The ideal candidate must be available Monday to Friday, 5 days a week, commencing work at 8:45 to 3:45. You will be paid a daily rate of £83 - £95. This role is set to start in September. Apply now to secure this role before it goes.
