About the Role
Kingswood Medical Centre located in Basildon, is seeking a medical secretary/administrator to undertake a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties, to support the multidisciplinary team. This position is offered on a full or part-time basis, hours between 30-37.5 per week, working Monday to Friday, times to be confirmed.
Main duties include:
* Processing of information, electronic and hard copy, in a timely manner.
* Liaising with team members and external agencies, such as secondary care and community service providers.
* Typing letters, reports and associated documentation.
* Ensuring referrals are processed efficiently.
* Managing all enquiries in an effective manner.
* Maintaining an accurate referrals database.
* Actioning all incoming email.
* Processing letters as requested.
* Scanning patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient’s healthcare records.
* Inputting data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary.
* Coding data.

About the Candidate
We welcome applications from those with the following skills and experience:
Essential:
* Educated to GCSE level in Mathematics and English (C or above) or equivalent.
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting as a medical secretary.
* Experience of general practice or within the NHS.
* Experience of working with the general public.
* Excellent written communication skills.
* Strong IT skills, including audio typing.
* Clear and polite telephone manner.
* Effective time management.
Desirable:
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
* Level 3 trained in medical terminology.
About Us
We are a GMS non-dispensing practice and look after approximately 10,500 patients with a growing list size. We are part of Mid and South Essex ICB, and West Basildon Primary Care Network (PCN).
The practice is committed to delivering high quality patient care which requires us to have a supportive and cohesive team. We are incredibly proud of how we provide care for our patients. We are rated as CQC Good and are a high QOF achieving practice.
Our team consists of 2 GP partners supported by 5 salaried GPs. In addition to our doctors, we have ANPs, practice nurses, HCAs, and also a variety of support staff from our PCN consisting of pharmacists, MH practitioners and home visiting service. The clinical staff are supported by our admin team including receptionists, secretaries, workflow and prescriptions clerk. We are a SystmOne practice and hold regular clinical and practice staff meetings.
