Job Purpose
The role of the Lead Community Fundraiser will be to head up Community Fundraising. The post holder will be expected to be a confident communicator with a willingness to learn and develop their own skills within their department, with the support of the management team.
Environment
Kilbryde Hospice provides specialist palliative care services to the people of South Lanarkshire. It is a specialist resource for those individuals receiving palliative care who have particularly complex needs. The Hospice strives to meet the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients and carers, offering support in coping with the practical implications of life-limiting illnesses. Staff are required to provide the highest standard of patient-centred care possible, while promoting choice, dignity, self-esteem, and an enhanced quality of life. The Hospice is a Company Limited by guarantee, and a registered charity, and is required by separate and differing legislation to meet finance, governance, and regulatory requirements.
Key Accountabilities
* Ensuring the achievement of income targets, specifically Community.
* To oversee Community Fundraising.
* To build and maintain strong community presence
* Support and encourage the Fundraising Team (staff and volunteers).
* To support the Fundraisers and the Fundraising & Commercial Manager in all aspects of fundraising.
* To provide input to the Media & Communications Officer where applicable.
* To build and maintain relationships with new and existing supporters, actively and strategically building connections and partnerships within our community.
* To provide appropriate stewardship to all donors and supporters (in phone, in person and through email/post), and to be a first point of contact for new donors (including accepting donations and supporting donors with their own fundraising ventures). This will include interactions with a variety of people, including those who may be emotional.
* To maintain the upkeep of our donor database.
* To plan, organise and deliver new and existing Kilbryde Hospice events. This includes advanced preparations, on-the-day support, and pre/post event administration.
* To use creative flair to create and develop new and cost-effective fundraising events and campaigns.
* Act as an ambassador for Kilbryde Hospice, representing the charity and undertaking public speaking at external events, including a variety of networking events.
* Working closely with the Corporate Team
* Cash Handling and Processing: Accurately process, reconcile, and record all cash and cheque donations, ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies. Prepare and conduct timely bank deposits, as required, with support from the Finance Team.
* Keep up to date with current trends and initiatives to encourage Community support.
* Any other relevant duties as required by the Fundraising & Commercial Manager.
Knowledge, Technical Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* Excellent interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills to convey information in a variety of formats to a variety of audiences.
* Sound working knowledge of the Microsoft Office packages (specifically Word, Outlook and Excel)
* Ability to manage own workload, excellent personal organisation and the ability to prioritise with a creative and constructive approach to challenges and opportunities.
* Friendly, outgoing manger, with the ability and confidence to develop and sustain long-term working relationships with people at all levels.
* A willingness to learn and develop own skills in fundraising.
* Prepared to work unsocial hours as required.
Desirable:
* Full UK driving license and access to own vehicle.
* Experience of donor databases, specifically eTapestry.
* Experience dealing with the public.
* Knowledge of WordPress, social media platforms and general marketing

* The post holder must at all times carry out duties and responsibilities with regard to the Kilbryde Hospice Code of Conduct.
* Kilbryde Hospice operates a strict non-smoking policy in the hospice or Hairmyres hospital grounds.
