Salary: Competitive What you’ll be doing: Support the record keeping of material use applications, reviews and approvals within a database toolset Engage with submarine system owners and industry partners to facilitate material request submissions Collate material information and populate it into external databases for hazard assessment Support the progression of material use applications to achieve clearance for use status Develop risk based material safety justifications through consultation with design and safety stakeholders Identify required testing for materials then receive, record and prepare samples to support those tests Support problem solving relating to legislative compliance, toxicity and reaction to fire for materials and instigate actions to support clearance for use Your skills and experiences: IT skills with the ability to use handle data in a database toolset Excellent communication skills with various stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood The ability to interpret information in regard to engineering system design and material specifications The willingness to learn and gain knowledge of material legislation and material properties Level 3 qualification in a STEM or safety related subject / Eng Tech status Previous experience in completing safety assessments or contributing to safety cases Benefits: You’ll receive benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan. The Materials Assurance Team: You will be working alongside industry leading experts, undertaking safety assessments for material applications in the design of Nuclear Submarines. The team play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety of submarines which requires involvement in all aspects of the design. We work end to end across the submarine build program from the selection and purchase of materials through to final installation and inspection. This creates opportunities to build a full and detailed understanding of the programs and to support the business with varied problem solving. Training and development will be available to support your success in this role, as well as the support of the team.
