We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to provide immunisations, cervical smear tests, and chronic disease management services for our patients. Mondays to Fridays only, but must be prepared to work until 8.00 PM on Tuesday evenings (later start possible to compensate).
Modern purpose-built surgery in a quiet residential location. Small friendly team with plenty of interaction with colleagues. Parking available on a first-come first-served basis, but close to Mill Hill East Underground station and bus services. Waitrose and Virgin Active Gym close by.

About us
We are a small friendly team located in a modern purpose-built building with some parking available, but with free parking on surrounding streets also. Mill Hill East tube (Northern Line) is a few minutes walk as are bus services. Waitrose and a Virgin Active Gym are close by.
We have a full-time partner, three part-time salaried doctors, and a team of healthcare professionals including physician associates, advanced care practitioners, and nurses. We also have a team of Primary Care Network (PCN) staff including social prescribers, care coordinators, first contact physiotherapists, pharmacists, a health and well-being coach, and a mental health practitioner.
We open Mon-Fri, 8.00 AM - 6.30 PM with extended hours on Tuesdays until 8.00 PM. We offer appointments in the evenings and weekends via our PCN hub surgeries and Barnet Federation.
We hold weekly clinical team meetings and monthly practice team meetings.
We use EMIS Web clinical system and Docman. We operate a telephone triage system using AccuRx for same-day clinician appointments. Nurse appointments are 15 minutes long.
You will assist in maintaining up-to-date PGDs, infection prevention and control, any relevant logs, QOF, immunisation, and smear targets.
Must be flexible, good-natured, polite, punctual, and possess good written and spoken English.

Hours: Negotiable but must include extended hours currently on Tuesday evenings until 20:00.
Job Summary:
Working in accordance with the UKCC Code of Conduct and with reference to Practice Guidelines, appropriately referring to GPs, the post-holder will provide assessment, treatment, screening, health education services, and advice to patients.
The post-holder will work with reference to Practice agreed protocols and guidelines, providing nursing treatments to patients both independently and in collaboration with nurse colleagues and general practitioners.
The post-holder will have the required level of training and competence and will work within patient group directions where these are available. A nurse with prescribing qualifications will use them appropriately.
Basic Skills, Duties and Responsibilities Needed:
You require at least the following:
Immunisation (Adult and Child)
* Working with patients with more complex immunisation issues.
Travel Health
* Administering injections and providing guidance in accordance with guidelines.
* Identifying problems.
* Provision of specialist and evidence-based support to the team.
Blood Pressure Recording
* Be able to take blood pressure and record the results accurately.
Urinanalysis
* Be able to test samples and/or pass on samples for hospital checking, as required.
ECG
* Be able to record an ECG and load it onto the computer for assessment by the doctors.
Assessment and Advice
* Give dietetic advice and information.
* Provide information about asthma regarding PEFR and devices.
Computer Skills
* Be able to use a computer (EMIS Web), Docman 10, as necessary (though training can be given).
* Maintain accurate documentation of care and utilisation of I.T.
Room Care
Maintain the treatment/nurses room and all instruments at a very high standard of cleanliness.
Stock Monitoring
Assist the HCA in monitoring stock of:
* Syringes and needles
* Swabs and dressings
* Couch rolls and other nursing supplies
Skills and Abilities preferred:

* New patient health checks

Management of Chronic Disease
* Identifying significant abnormalities.
* Diagnosis, monitoring, and development of individual management plans; agreeing these as appropriate with the patient and other health professionals.
Therapeutic Monitoring
* Checking compliance with and adherence to appropriate treatments using a holistic patient-centered approach.
* Recognising abnormalities.
* Identifying the impact of treatment and implementing or recommending changes as appropriate.
Wound Care and Management
* Assessing routine wounds including trauma.
* Assessing and prescribing to support good wound management in complex situations.
* Identifying significant abnormalities.
* Working with patients to develop a management plan where health problems or potential health problems are identified.
Health Screening
* Recognising issues and gathering sufficient information to refer.
* Undertaking monitoring tasks (e.g., smears) and providing advice as appropriate.
* Be able to advise, refer, and manage patients wishing to stop smoking.
Other
* Dealing with more complex problems and prescribing if appropriate.
Meetings/In-house Training Sessions:
You are required to attend:
* Nurse/HCA Team meetings held every other Monday at 1.30 PM.
* Clinical meetings, held every Tuesday at 1.30 PM.
* Staff meetings, held on the second Thursday of each month from 1.30 PM.
* Monthly training sessions, held on the fourth Thursday of each month from 1.30 PM till 3.00 PM approximately (if applicable).
Over-time:
Over-time may be worked, as and when required, with prior agreement by a partner or the practice manager.
You are allowed five days study leave pro rata each year (April to March). Any additional study leave requested will be granted at the Partners' discretion.
The post attracts 25 days' annual leave plus Bank and Statutory Holidays per annum, April to March each year.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in accordance with the UKCC Code of Professional Conduct.
* Practice Nursing qualification and experience needed.
