About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Water Treatment Engineer to provide specialist support to highly regulated manufacturing and production facilities across the Scottish Belt. This part-time role involves site visits to monitor, test, and maintain industrial water treatment systems, including cooling towers, boiler systems, and closed-loop systems. The position offers a 6-month initial contract with potential for extension, a competitive day rate, and a company car/mileage reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct site visits to manufacturing and production facilities to monitor and maintain cooling, boiler, and closed-loop water systems.
* Perform water quality testing, chemical dosing, and system analysis to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
* Identify and troubleshoot water treatment issues in cooling systems, boilers, and industrial water circuits, providing practical and cost-effective solutions.
* Ensure all water systems are compliant with HSE regulations, L8 guidelines, and industry best practices.
* Prepare detailed reports on system performance, compliance, and recommended actions.
* Work closely with health & safety teams to ensure the safe operation of water treatment processes.
* Provide technical advice and guidance to clients on water treatment optimisation and compliance.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Water Treatment Engineer, preferably within highly regulated industries (manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food production, etc.).
* Strong knowledge of cooling towers, boiler water treatment, and closed-loop systems.
* Experience conducting water testing, chemical dosing, and legionella control.
* Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., L8, HSG274, BG04, and other water treatment guidelines).
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Scottish Belt.
* Ability to work independently with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, site managers, and internal teams.
