Job Description
Alliance Tool Hire is a fast-growing independent tool hire company with 10 branches across the South of England. We are looking for a dedicated Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) & Transport Manager to join our team and build on our safety-first culture.
This role is to be based from either our Mitcham, South London or Horsham, Sussex branch with travel across the depot network required for a minimum of 1-2 days per week.
Responsibilities
Transport
* Manage vehicle maintenance, servicing and repairs, oversee vehicle checks and respond to incidents, including liasing with insurance providers as required.
* Monitor transport costs, fuel usage, and driver performance to drive efficiency.
* Manage transport-related contracts and relationships with external providers, e.g. vehicle leasing companies, vehicle repair networks.
* Ensure compliance with transport legislation, and company health and safety policies and maintain our FORS accreditation.
Health & Safety
* Develop and oversee the company’s health & safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
* Conduct regular internal audits, and support external audits, across our depot network and resolve any issues identified.
* Oversee safety training and deliver toolbox talks for staff, including induction programs for new employees.
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; report findings and implement corrective actions.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a transport management role and experience in a health & safety management role, ideally in the hire industry or construction-related sector.
* Commercial mindset with the ability to negotiate terms with suppliers e.g. vehicle leasing companies / dealers, garage networks.
* Ability to develop policies and procedures based on best practice and advice from external expert advisors.
* Hands-on, pragmatic approach with bias towards getting things done and good attention to detail.
* Confident in delivering training and engaging staff in safety awareness.
* Competent in using Microsoft Office, H&S management software and transport management software.
* Holds a formal HSEQ qualification, e.g. IOSH.
* Hold a valid UK driving licence.
