Job Description
We are looking for an innovative, creative and practically minded Design Engineer with strong communication and problem-solving skills. You will be joining an experienced and committed team Kiverco that is focused on innovation in an industry with a bright future. Reporting to the Lead NPD Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing products that meet evolving customer needs. You should have a high level of adaptability to response to changes in project scope or design requirements and a keen eye for detail to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
About The Role
Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Design and Development
• Design and develop new products and modifications to existing products to meet customer needs.
• Create detailed models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software.
• Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and testing to ensure design functionality and durability.
Innovation and Problem-Solving
• Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in product design.
• Troubleshoot design challenges and develop practical and cost-effective solutions.
• Research new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to enhance product performance.
Project Management
• Support the delivery of new product development (NPD) projects within set timelines and budgets.
• Manage design revisions and changes effectively.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation for design traceability.
Testing and Quality Assurance
• Assist in prototype development and testing to validate designs before full scale production.
• Ensure all designs meet industry regulations, safety standard and Kiverco’s quality requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing feedback from testing and customer use.

Desired Criteria
* Experience in the Recycling or Heavy Plant Industry.
* Familiar with Product Data Management Software (PDM).
* Knowledge of hydraulic / mechanical / electrical systems.
Required Criteria
* A degree / HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with 5 years related work experience.
* Highly proficient in the use of 3D CAD software (SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office Packages.
* Experience of taking products through from concept to prototype to final design.
* A team player with an honest, dependable and supportive nature.
* An independent thinker and problem solver, with the ability to take design specifications and produce a well-rounded solution.
* Ability to assist production with prototypes and work well in a team.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
