We have a fantastic new opportunity available for someone, who displays our company values of Warmth, Graft and Courage, to join our dynamic Property Team with responsibility for project management for the Westmorland Estate. A family business, started in 1972 from our farm in Cumbria, which now runs unique motorway service areas – Tebay on the M6, Gloucester on the M5 and Cairn Lodge on the M74 – we don’t run franchises but instead our own Farmshops and Kitchens. We also have Junction 38, a services dedicated to HGV drivers, Rheged, a meeting place, Cafe, Gallery and Cinema, and the Westmorland Hotel situated on the edge of the Lake District. This new role will be responsible for delivering technical building surveying advice for all of the Westmorland estate, including new builds, extensions, upgrading and refurbishing and ensure the estate is operating efficiently and effectively. The Project Manager will conduct feasibility studies and develop specifications for construction projects as well as undertake the procurement and management of construction contracts from initial feasibility to completion and handover. They will also develop and manage the planned maintenance programme for Westmorland properties and provide technical and professional advice to ensure the integrity of Westmorland estate is maintained. This role will also lead the procurement and management of technical experts and specialists via external contractors and consultants to support in house capability, actively mentor and develop team members as well as manage the activities of both internal colleagues and external suppliers to ensure project delivery. About You As this role will involve travelling to our different sites, a full driving licence is essential as well as having a proven track record of delivery of maintenance and construction programmes and projects. You will need to hold, or provide evidence of working towards becoming, RICS accredited or equivalent. You will need to have comprehensive knowledge of building and construction, including building regulations, health and safety, contract administration and JCT as well as other forms of construction contracts. Management of contractors and consultants is essential alongside e xperience of managing budgets, p roject and planning process management. Knowledge of CDM regulations implementation and risk assessments, with commercial acumen and a commitment to deliver value for money, whilst having a positive approach to team working, are also essential for this role. An environmental Management System qualification and relevant Health and Safety qualification would be desirable but not essential.
