Endoscopy is primarily run as an outpatient department, providing diagnostic and therapeutic services. The Endoscopy Department is JAG accredited and complies with the HTM01-06 which maintains the highest standards of quality and service delivery for the decontamination needs of the Hospital trust.
Additional working pattern details: Long day 07:30-18:30 (10.5 hour shift, 30 minutes break) half days - 07:30-13:30 / 12:30-18:30
Main duties of the job
* To provide high standards of individualised nursing care for patients and their families by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
* Recognise and report any changes in patient's condition and escalate appropriately.
* Provide safe and effective nursing care and psychological support to both patients and their accompanying relatives.
* Act as a role model by demonstrating the professional standards and proactively reporting inappropriate behaviour and practice.
* Demonstrate accepted organisational behaviour to support the quality and patient safety strategy.
* Ensure and maintain the privacy and dignity of patients at all times.
* Decontamination will be a big part of the job role.
* You must operate decontamination equipment and instruments.
* Be aware of manual handling.
* Understand and follow the basic knowledge of the HTM01-06.
* Communicate and work well with a small team in a confined area.
* Be able to prioritise and manage your own workload and timings, providing the service with efficient supply.
* Comply with track and trace system (this will be taught to you).
* Understand the scopes and its workings.
* Comply with infection control - adhere to strict protocols and guidelines regarding this.

Job responsibilities
* Ability to work on own initiative, independently and as part of a team.

* Provides clinical care by taking observations (blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturations, respirations, temperature), weighing blood loss, catheter care, and assisting with personal care.
* Is able to perform Cannulation/venepuncture on adults, or is willing to undertake the relevant training in order to achieve this.
* Demonstrate understanding of research-based practice, and participate as required in audit.
* An enthusiasm to participate in Endoscopy and Decontamination induction and on-the-job training.
* Following training the ability to demonstrate performance and capability.
* The ability to demonstrate dexterity and ability to work in a methodical and systematic manner.
* Ability to work in a busy production facility with tight deadlines whilst maintaining high standards in all aspects of work.
* Basic knowledge of standard range of Microsoft Office programmes.

Person Specification
* Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent Grade C English, or equivalent (e.g. National Adult Certificate Level 2 Literacy).
* Educated to GCSE Level Mathematics Grade D or equivalent (e.g. National Adult Certificate Level 1 Numeracy).
* Appropriate experience within an acute clinical area or ward setting/speciality/nursing home in the UK.
* Ability to demonstrate a customer-focused approach and respond to the demands from the customer and service users to meet their critical requirements.
* Ability to work under instruction, quickly and accurately.
* Good time management.
* Knowledge about Infection prevention control.
* Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in any endoscopy area.
* Enhanced IT skills.
* Act as a resource for all staff disseminating clinical skills and knowledge.
* Good communication skills both written and verbal.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety at work.
* Ability to work flexibly and able to prioritise work effectively.
