Band 6 Specialist Radiographer - 37.5 hours.
An opportunity has arisen within the X-ray department at the Cumberland Infirmary as a Band 6 Specialist Radiographer. The successful candidate will be expected to be competent in Interventional Radiography and have the skills and knowledge to act as the lead radiographer during interventional procedures. The successful candidate will also be expected to support the X-ray Lead & Interventional Lead Radiographer and take responsibility as a senior within the main X-ray Department coordinating and organisation on day-to-day basis and take on additional responsibilities within the department and fulfil their duties to a high standard and meet the demands of the service. There may be expectation to travel to satellite sites including Penrith and Keswick to cover if required. The candidate will be expected to fulfil the role of as set out in the job description and partake in the full rota rotation including out of hours and weekends as well as the on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role include:
* Supporting and deputising for the Lead Radiographers in specialist areas including interventional radiography in providing a comprehensive service, using initiative to meet and organise the demands of the service.
* Take responsibility for the daily organisation and coordinating activities within the available resources.
* Undertake additional responsibilities within the department as set out by the Lead Radiographers, ensuring they are completed and fulfilled to a high standard.
* Supervise and assist in the practical training of radiographers and radiography helpers. Willingly help other professionals to understand radiographic procedures and images.
* Act as mentor or preceptor to less experienced staff as required.
* Work as a member of the team that plays a major part in the practical training of student radiographers.
* Introduce new members of staff to their duties and play a key role in the departmental induction programme.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in radiography or equivalent.
* HPC registration.
* Relevant postgraduate certificate or equivalent.
* Relevant post graduate diploma or equivalent.
* Certificate of competence in IV administration.
Experience
* General Radiology Experience working in the NHS.
* Well-developed diagnostic radiography within an acute hospital.
* Experience in specialist field(s) of radiology (as appropriate to role).
* Moving & handling the non-independently mobile, including those with multiple injuries.
* Teaching and appraisal.
Knowledge
* Patient care including signs of deteriorating health and first level life support techniques.
* Continuing professional development with portfolio.
* Infection prevention & control.
* Protection of persons against radiation hazards.
* Moving and handling techniques.
