Early Years Practitioner Job Description
We are looking for a new member of staff to join our Under 2's Room at the nursery. The role would be full-time and all year round; we do offer term-time only roles too. The Nursery opens from 8 am and closes at 6 pm.
We are looking for someone that is passionate about childcare and wants to join the nursery to help us grow and support the children's learning.
Ideally, a recognised Level 3 qualification is preferred. However, Level 2 with experience and a willingness to go onto Level 3, or someone who has experience and is looking to complete an apprenticeship, would also be considered.
Experience would be great, but training will be given if no experience.
Role and Responsibilities:
1. To effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met.
2. Plan and carry out activities in line with the EYFS.
3. Baby Room Experience would be ideal.
4. Work with your room leader to ensure that displays are changed regularly and are in line with themes, seasons, children’s interests, and nursery standards.
5. To keep records of your key children’s development and learning, looking for progression and continuity alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage, and share with parents, carers, and other key adults in the child’s life.
6. To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and needs of the children.
7. This ensures children get the best start in life – developing independence, confidence, and self-esteem, and building children’s resilience and well-being.
8. To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children, having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures, and medical histories.
9. Ensure the cleanliness of the children at all times.
10. To advise the Safeguarding designated person/manager/deputy of any concerns, e.g., over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
11. Be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties such as cleaning of area and equipment.
12. To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting.
13. To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families, or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
14. To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene, and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
15. Maintain accurate records for all children, e.g., registers, accidents, and incidents.
