A Brief Overview
This is a role within RGA’s business development function in Continental Europe. As part of the life and health team, the individual will interact with various stakeholders to build and maintain relationships and ensure market leading delivery of RGA’s services.
The role involves working with cross-functional teams to qualify new opportunities, create or adapt solutions and support the execution of structures that address the clients’ objectives.
Responsibilities
As a business developer based in France, this position aims to help the team grow the business locally and in Belgium. The job has two main functions:
1 Assist the local team in gathering market intelligence, creating, preparing and presenting our solutions to clients (life insurance companies in France and Belgium) but also to the wider industry (auditors/consultants, asset managers, banks, brokers, supervisors, TPAs…). This includes:
* Research on clients’ organisations, business, results and needs;
* Understanding local rules and regulations to identify opportunities and product ideas;
* Contribute to the creation or update of presentation decks and prepare external meetings;
* Leverage and build client and wider industry relationships to gather insights into market activities and enhance RGA’s reputation in the market.
2 Work with the wider European team to close transactions. This includes:
* Prepare market insights to facilitate the analysis of opportunities;
* Responding to tenders, renewals or ad hoc client queries to facilitate the sales and negotiation process with new and existing clients;
* Support the execution of transactions in France and Belgium including liaison with internal stakeholders and treaty negotiation;
* Support the onboarding of executed deals;
* Follow up of the evolution of RGA’s reinsurance portfolio and contribute to the deal’s reportings.
The role will also involve:
* Gaining an in-depth understanding of RGA's operations/processes and RGA’s appetite;
* Working closely with our internal stakeholders, pricing, risk, legal teams and others to deliver results;
* Preparing regular reports on business development activities and market developments.
This job may involve periodic travel.
Requirements
* Degree in Business, Actuarial Science, or related degree;
* English and French speaker and writer (as a minimum);
* Experience or good knowledge in one or more of the following:
o Statutory (French GAAP and BE GAAP) & IFRS GAAP Accounting;
o Detailed life insurance/reinsurance regulations (including Solvency II);
o Actuarial principles and/or modelling;
o Asset investment and regulations;
o Capital management;
* Project management experience is a plus.
* Professional qualification in the insurance or reinsurance industry with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
