Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Quality Manager
The Quality Manager duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:
* Oversees and maintains all aspects of Quality. Manages people including, but not limited to, Quality Engineers, incoming inspection, as well as the Internal Audit Team to ensure ongoing compliance to the Quality Management System. The Standards to which Altek is certified include, but are not limited to, AS9100D, ISO 9001:2015, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, WHMA-A-A620. ISO 13485 Certification is a goal for the near future.
* Provides leadership and continually improves functions and processes within areas of responsibility.
* Manages applicable areas of responsibility to maintain and improve required quality requirements, while considering safety, process flow, and costs.
* Provides relevant reporting and recommendations to Management.
* Acts as a thought leader for the Altek Quality System and Quality Assurance methodologies, including staying current on techniques, tools, and practices.
* Facilitates RCCA workshops, including training on mistake proofing and process improvement.
* Supports internal and external customers related to quality issues.
* Provides direction and support for Supplier Quality.
* Interfaces with or directs communication between appropriate Altek personnel and customers to ensure customer expectations related to quality and auditing, are being appropriately addressed.
* Ensures PPAP’s, FAI’s, Validations, and other related tasks are completed to customer’s expectations.
* Creates and executes strategies to support Altek annual and long-term objectives.
* Coaches Managers, Supervisors and Production personnel in Quality Management System and other Quality Activities and including reporting.
* Provides guidance and support relative to quality issues, error proofing, customer complaint resolution, etc.
* Tracks key quality related trends and initiates RCCA as appropriate.
* Oversees the following systems/processes:
1. QMS (Quality Management System), including QMS Point of Contact for ISO 9001, AS9100, and soon ISO 13485.
2. Customer Complaints.
3. Non-Conforming Material.
4. Incoming Inspection.
5. Quality related processes and metrics (e.g., defect collection).
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages Staff of Quality Technicians, Engineers, Incoming Inspection Personnel, and others as necessary, including delegating and managing workload, annual reviews, and professional development.
Knowledge and Skill Required to be the Quality Manager at Altek
* Knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes & procedures.
* Knowledge and hands-on experience in Quality principles, practices, tools, and techniques.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment.
* Strong leadership and organizational skills.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Prefer Background in AS9100D and/or ISO13485.
* Previous experience managing a Quality Department.
Computer Skills
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Visio, Minitab.
* Ability to manipulate, interpret, and present data.
Education and/or Experience
* Minimum 5 years of experience in a Quality leadership role.
* Lean and/or Six Sigma certification.
* Previous Experience with AS9100D or ISO13485.
* ASQ certification.
* IPC 610/620 certified or become certified with an agreed upon time frame.
Working Conditions
Work involves lifting materials and product up to 30 pounds. Occasional travel to visit customers or suppliers is required.
