The Opportunity
Our client is one of the largest Engineering Consultancies in the UK, and due to their growing team, they are currently on the hunt for a Principal EC&I Engineer to join the Nuclear Power and Engineering Technical Services division of their company.
As a Principal EC&I Engineer, you will be working on a range of different projects, spanning from plant life extension work to the latest in nuclear technology and new builds. Our client's work is at the forefront of keeping the UK amongst the best and most technologically advanced nuclear countries in the world.
You will be an integral part of these complex projects, coordinating and assisting junior engineers in their work, alongside completing your own. Using your strong communication skills, you will liaise with various teams across the business, as well as client representatives, ensuring that the project work meets or exceeds expectations.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of our client's work, we are unable to consider candidates from outside of the UK. Any applicant must be able to secure SC Security Clearance at a minimum.
Your Duties and Responsibilities
1. Act as the Responsible Engineer on projects.
2. Lead project delivery teams across the project lifecycle from bid generation through concept and detailed design development to installation and commissioning.
3. Own and manage project budgets.
4. Build and manage client relationships and leverage those relationships to deliver continued opportunities and new business leads.
5. Work on systems integration, testing, and validation of PLC, SCADA, and simulator systems.
6. Demonstrate knowledge of the practical aspects of implementing engineering designs and understand the use of standards and compliance with regulatory requirements in an engineering environment.
7. Produce high-quality technical reports.
8. Simplify complex problems and build and maintain valuable relationships.
You Will Have the Following Qualifications & Experience
1. MEng, MSc, BEng, or BSc or equivalent in EC&I or another relevant discipline.
2. Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional body.
3. An awareness of civil nuclear plant systems, structures, and components and associated design and assessment guidelines (or relevant engineering principles from other highly regulated industries).
4. An understanding of the relevant guidelines, standards, and practices (e.g., IEC 61508, 61511, 61513, 61226, ONR SAPs / TAGS).
It's Great If You Also Have the Following
1. Knowledge and experience in the systematic design lifecycle of a C&I system; including specification, design, assessment, verification, testing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of safety or process critical I&C Systems.
2. Knowledge of high integrity hardware or software-based control systems for industrial equipment.
3. Good communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders.
4. Committed to Continuous Professional Development.
The Setting for the Role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licensed site. These can include nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gases, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high-pressure circuits, steam, high noise, and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
