As part of our expansion to being one of the Regional Training Academies for the Southwest Region, we are seeking enthusiastic, highly motivated nurses ideally with at least six months experience in an acute setting and Newly Qualified nurses, with a commitment to team working and a keen interest in continuous improvement. Experience in an endoscopy setting would be an advantage, but full training will be given to nurses from different backgrounds.
All nurses will complete a bespoke induction programme which will be tailored to your specific needs. Newly qualified nurses will have comprehensive induction which involves rotational posts in Gastroenterology. Once completed, you will be expected to participate in the cross-county on-call rota providing out of hours emergency care. Following induction you will be expected to undertake a number of specific endoscopy courses in line with your ongoing development programme.

Main duties of the job
1. To assess, plan, implement, evaluate and provide high quality nursing care.
2. To work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
3. To manage caseload of patients within defined clinical area.
4. To participate in the on call emergency bleed rota.
5. To organise own time and that of junior staff and students (include WTE and headcount).
6. To support the senior members of staff in the management and supervision of the defined clinical area.
7. To be responsible for the coordination of the clinical area in the absence of a more senior nurse.

The JAG accredited Endoscopy Units at Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital are busy nurse-led units that serve as both a Regional Endoscopy Training Centre and National Bowel Cancer Screening Centre. The unit handles emergency procedures as well as caring for routine inpatients/outpatients, and includes specialist lists such as ERCP, Peg Insertion, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection, Enteroscopy, Complex Polyp lists, Bronchoscopy, and Thoracoscopy.
Job responsibilities
1. Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council with appropriate teaching/assessing qualification.
2. Appropriate experience within an acute clinical area.
3. Enhanced IT skills.
4. Enhanced levels of dexterity and accuracy pertaining to clinical skills (e.g., admission of intravenous injections/cannulation).
5. Act as a resource for all staff disseminating clinical skills and knowledge.
6. Ensure personal and professional development is progressed through Individual Performance Development Review and PREP guidelines.
7. Demonstrate understanding of research-based practice, and participate as required in audit.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Adult) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
* IV Drug administration
* Demonstrate a history of continuing professional development. Willingness to undertake relevant Gastroenterology course.
* Trust Role Transition Programme completed on qualifying
