About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Associate or Partner-level Solicitor (5+ PQE) to join a Tier 1 Housing and Regeneration team based in Preston. The firm is nationally recognised for its work with Registered Providers (RPs), local authorities and co-operatives, providing expert legal advice across the housing sector.
This is a strategic hire for someone with strong experience in leasehold and tenancy-related matters, to work with established clients while helping shape the future direction of the team.
You will play a key role within a collaborative and high-performing team, managing your own caseload of complex leasehold and tenancy matters, with support from junior fee earners. There is significant scope for business development, thought leadership and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities
* Advising on leasehold disputes, including Section 20 consultations and service charge challenges
* Acting on lease extensions and statutory enfranchisement matters
* Drafting and advising on tenancy agreements, with a focus on housing management issues
* Providing guidance on tenancy allocations, including immigration status checks and Right to Rent requirements
* Reviewing and drafting review decision letters and statutory notices
* Advising on commercial leasehold issues for Registered Providers
* Supporting clients through regeneration and redevelopment schemes, including advice on decanting, termination procedures, and legal options
* Building and nurturing client relationships, with a strong focus on quality and responsiveness
* Contributing to the strategic direction of the Housing and Regeneration team
* Mentoring junior team members and supporting their development
The Ideal Candidate
* 5+ years PQE with strong experience in leasehold and tenancy matters within the social housing sector
* A track record of dealing with Registered Providers, local authorities, and similar housing-focused clients
* Ability to manage complex cases independently with minimal supervision
* A collaborative, proactive mindset with a passion for client service
* Business development experience or appetite to build client relationships
* Comfortable mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to team growth
