The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development. Depending on your placement, you may work in a mainstream setting supporting students 1:1 in the classroom or in a special school working with children with complex needs such as Autism, SEMH, PMLD, or SLD. Main Responsibilities Support students in accessing the curriculum through one-to-one or small group interventions. Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and adapting resources as needed. Help manage challenging behaviour in a calm and patient manner. Support students' personal care, where required. Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment. Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers. Essential Criteria Experience working with children or young people in a professional or voluntary capacity. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Patience, empathy, and resilience. A flexible and adaptable approach to working in different settings. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Desirable Criteria Experience working with children with SEND in special school or mainstream settings. Training in communication strategies such as Makaton or PECS.
