The Role
****Please note this role is a 12 month fixed term position for maternity cover**
The Supply and Procurement team are responsible for identifying and procuring specialist genomic products for use in biomarker driven assays, to support discovery, development and delivery of clinical testing.
The responsibilities include ordering lab reagents, consumables, and equipment, ensuring timely delivery by liaising with suppliers and internal departments, and identifying alternative products when necessary. The role involves supporting procurement for genomic products, negotiating pricing, and ensuring cost-effective and timely supply. Effective communication with suppliers about new and existing products is crucial. Additionally, the role includes managing RFIs/Tenders, tracking expenditure and savings, monitoring supplier performance, and identifying supply chain improvements. Administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, generating reports, managing mailboxes, and overseeing maintenance contracts for lab instruments are also part of the job.
Key Requirements
Applicants must have eligibility to work in the UK OR possess a valid work permit that will allow you to take up full time, permanent employment in the UK.
To be successful in this position you will need 5 GCSEs Grade C or above (or equivalent) and previous experience in an administrative role with experience in the use of MS office packages.
Whilst not essential, it would be advantageous for candidates to have a qualification or training in supply management/procurement or business-related discipline, previous experience in a procurement related role, and experience of P2P systems and/or ERP systems.
