We are looking for a Warehouse Control Tower Supervisor to coordinate the loading and reloading of vehicles for through-the-night deliveries. The successful candidate will possess strong administrative, communication, and coordination skills, with a focus on ensuring operational efficiency, cost management, and continuous improvement within the warehouse environment.
The role will involve developing and implementing operational policies, standards, and procedures to streamline operations, reduce costs, and ensure high-quality service levels. IT literacy is essential, and a van and/or 7.5T driving licence would be advantageous to support operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordination of Vehicle Loading & Reloading:
o Ensuring that multiple vehicles are efficiently unloaded and reloaded to ensure timely and accurate through-the-night deliveries.
o Coordinate with the transport team to ensure all deliveries are prepared for dispatch according to schedule.
o Monitor the process to ensure that all goods are loaded in accordance with safety and quality standards, minimising the risk of damage or delays.
o Manage communication with drivers and other operational teams to facilitate smooth loading and resolve any last-minute changes or issues quickly.
2. Administrative & Documentation Management:
o Maintain accurate records of loading schedules, inventory, and vehicle dispatch to ensure proper tracking and documentation.
o Use IT systems, such as warehouse management systems (WMS/ VIGO/ EDC), to track inventory, manage loading/unloading processes, and produce necessary reports.
o Ensure that all relevant paperwork (delivery notes, manifests, inventory logs, etc.) is completed accurately and on time.
o Generate and analyse reports on operational performance, vehicle loads, and inventory status, providing insights for decision-making.
3. Operational Planning & Policy Implementation:
o Develop, implement, and enforce warehouse operational policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistent efficiency and high service standards.
o Monitor warehouse activities to identify inefficiencies or bottlenecks, implementing corrective actions and improvements as needed.
o Ensure compliance with company, industry, and legal standards, including health & safety regulations and environmental policies.
o Work with senior management to align warehouse activities with broader organisational goals and objectives.
4. Cost Management & Continuous Improvement:
o Proactively identify opportunities to reduce operational costs (e.g., improving vehicle loading efficiency, reducing waste, optimising warehouse layout).
o Implement strategies and processes to improve warehouse performance while ensuring that service quality and delivery times are not compromised.
o Review operational costs regularly and propose initiatives to optimise resources and improve cost efficiency.
o Work closely with the transport team to improve the alignment of warehouse operations with transportation schedules, reducing delays and improving throughput.
5. Health, Safety, and Compliance:
o Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines and warehouse safety protocols during loading, unloading, and transport operations.
o Promote a culture of safety and compliance across the warehouse, ensuring all staff are aware of and follow procedures to prevent accidents.
o Conduct regular safety audits and maintain records of compliance with safety regulations.
6. Forklift / Van / 7.5T Licence (Desirable):
o Use a forklift or assist with vehicle operation, including loading/unloading, if required. A valid van or 7.5T licence is preferred to support flexibility within the role.
o Ensure safe and efficient use of all equipment in accordance with company safety standards and industry regulations.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* Administrative Skills: Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail.
* Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively coordinate between warehouse teams, drivers, and external stakeholders.
* Coordination Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and ensure smooth operations coordination in a fast-paced environment.
* IT Literacy: Strong IT skills, including proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS), Microsoft Office, and other relevant software. Experience in using logistics or transport management systems is a plus.
* Operational Planning & Problem Solving: Ability to develop and implement operational policies, identify areas for improvement, and manage complex tasks.
* Cost Management: Experience in identifying cost-saving opportunities and managing operational budgets effectively.
* Forklift, Van, or 7.5T Licence (Desirable): A forklift licence and/or a valid driving licence for a van or 7.5T vehicle are advantageous for supporting hands-on activities.
* Experience: Proven experience in a warehouse management or logistics operations role, ideally within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

* This role is based on a night shift pattern from Tuesday to Saturday (18:00 - 04:00).
