We are seeking a dedicated and experienced One-to-One Teaching Assistant to join a small, specialist setting that supports students aged 7-18 with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs. In this role, you will work with a small group of students who have complex SEMH needs and other needs including Autism, ADHD, mild to moderate leanring difficulties, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, and attachment needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Committed to mentoring and supporting an individual pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils.
- Assisting the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
- Monitoring and reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, collaborating with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met.
- Supervising pupils during non-classroom times, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
- Helping with lesson planning and classroom setup.
- Setting tasks where appropriate and marking completed work.
- Fostering positive relationships with pupils and encouraging engagement for positive learning outcomes.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Possess a strong educational background, ideally up to A-level, with at least a Grade C (or equivalent) in GCSE English Language and Mathematics, along with solid IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant.
- Some experience working with students with SEMH needs in an educational setting.
- Experience in behavior management and utilising effective techniques.
- Committed to ongoing professional development and eager to learn.
