Operationally reporting to the lead Programme Manager/Director, the role of Senior Project Planner is to actively deliver integrated project planning and scheduling activities across a programme through the creation and maintenance of integrated schedules, provision of project planning reports and metrics.
Working within an applied matrix organisation (in particular working in collaboration with the engineering, procurement, supply-chain and production departments) the role will foster and encourage the culture and operational effectiveness of Integrated Project Teams (IPTs).
As a member of the Bids and Programmes job family, you will be expected to support an integrated – whole Marshall – Life Cycle Management Processes (LCM) and Business Management System (BMS) and bring your experience and knowledge to support the wider team.
Key responsibilities of Senior Project Planner will include:
* Undertaking the planning and scheduling of various projects within the programme, developing project plans and schedules.
* Monitoring project progress, identifying bottlenecks, and working within the programme IPT, report/take proactive measures to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
* Resource load the programme/project schedules.
* Supporting where required the generation of monthly SPI, CPI, whole EVM and CPA information from the integrated project schedules.
* Evaluating project schedule outcomes and identify areas for improvement in those plans.
* Mentoring and providing guidance to junior planners and project teams to enhance their appreciation of project planning.
* Managing the incorporation of authorised changes into the Project Contract Master Schedule (CMS), and provide scenario modelling and assessment of risk events for proposed changes to the CMS and the Performance Measurement Baseline.
* Conducting Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) to analyse the level of confidence of the Forecast Schedule and the contractual Deliverables Dates.
* Conducting Sensitivity Analysis and determine key drivers of the programme uncertainty.
* Undertaking additional activities as required by line management, the Business Line Director and the Central Operations Leadership Team.
* Supporting the adherence of the Lifecycle Management (LCM) Processes.
* Supporting effective 'Lessons Learned' (LFE - Learning From Experience) activities.
Apply if you have most of the following:
* Experience in ‘front line’ project planning roles, ideally in the defence domain – undertaking planning and scheduling, within one or a combination of Bids, Projects and/or Programmes, operations / production and project-engineering.
* An understanding of engineering development principles and manufacturing processes in principle.
* Subject matter expertise in the application of Project planning tools & techniques, including project control and reporting, change management, cost control, Integrated Baseline Planning (IBP), Supply-Chain schedule integration and risk & opportunity management. (Tool knowledge to include MSP, P6 Primavera).
* Practitioner in EVM, SPI and CPI and explain their full terms and how they are set-up and exercised on a Project through planning tools into a Project Plan.
* Experience in generating Critical Path Analysis and Risk Adjusted Schedules.
* Desirable: worked within a collaborative matrix-managed ‘IPT’ environment.
* Desirable: A qualification in Project Controls or Project Management an advantage, but not essential.
