Job Summary
The Environmental Safety Coordinator works within the manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with facility environmental permits and all required safety programs.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

* Collaborates with operational leadership to understand business objectives and translate them into detailed, actionable initiatives.
* Administers Darling Ingredients Safety programs which includes, but is not limited to, conducting OSHA safety training for new employees, annual training of employees, monthly safety committee facility walk-through, and advising safety committee in accident review processes.
* Conducts training of employees in environmental compliance, site inspections, sampling, log review, and report preparation to ensure compliance in the following: Air Permit, Wastewater Permits (LAS or Sewer), Storm water Permits and Pollution Prevention (SWPP), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), EPCRA (SARA) Compliance and Reporting, Solid & Hazardous Waste Management, Boiler Permits, and Business and Operating Licenses.
* Ensures compliance with local, state and federal environmental and safety regulations.
* Ensures proper monitoring and operation of environmental control equipment (air, water).
* Collects and performs environmental monitoring/sampling/reporting as necessary to comply with permits.
* Ensures correct sampling of production and finished good sales.
* Ensures proper product and quantity of stabilizer to production and finished goods.
* Responsible for all testing results to be communicated to appropriate management staff.
* Assists in the Food Safety program to include training of new and existing staff of food safety plan and cGMPs.
* Conducts required weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual internal Food Safety audits.
* Ensures all documentation for food safety is complete and accurate as the Primary PCQI at the facility.
* Knowledgeable of plant products and specifications.
* Identify in-house quality issues and communicates to relevant individuals; offers solutions.
* Assist in QA hold and release of products for distribution.
* Evaluate product & convey release status to other departments.
* Complete all appropriate release checklists and certifications.
* Collects and organizes data and source documents, and ensures all records are complete, correct, and meet all pertinent documentation requirements.
* Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* High School diploma or equivalent required.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in environmental and/or safety management in food production or agri-business.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Safety and Environmental, Industrial Management or related field.
* Highly organized; superior time management skills.
* Exceptional communication skills both written and oral.
* Self-motivated; self-starter; able to multi-task.
* Works well with others in a team environment.
* Good computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Demands
* Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
* Occasionally lifts to 25 lbs.
* Occasionally push, pull or move up to 100 lbs.
* Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
* Occasional overnight travel by personal vehicle or airplane.
Work Environment
Job functions will be carried out in an office, plant or field environment.
