Technical Services Consultant, Rules and Legislation
An exciting opportunity to join the Benefits Unit as a Technical Services Consultant focusing on ensuring that Railpen administers schemes in accordance with their rules and pensions legislation and on steering administration policy. This is a permanent role within Railpen’s Technical Policy and Services team based in our Darlington office and offering hybrid working.
Who we are
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds. You will also share this knowledge with other stakeholders.
The person
We are looking for someone who has an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the UK pensions regime and general pension administration processes, as well as a general appreciation of scheme rules and pensions taxation legislation. Therefore, a background in the pensions industry is key for this role, as is being technically focused with an enthusiasm to keep up to date on emerging pensions developments. Knowledge of DB pensions is essential, and knowledge of DC arrangements would be beneficial too.
The successful candidate will have good analytical and investigative skills and will clearly document their work. You will also have the ability to communicate effectively (both in writing and verbally) and to explain complex information clearly and unambiguously.
