Highways Maintenance Operative, 6 months FTC
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Highways Maintenance Operative (HGV licence) to join our NMC SW Account in Polmadie on a Fixed Term Contract. This contract will be a minimum basis for 6 months, which could lead to a permanent position.
Our NMC SW is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Southwest since August 2020, responsible for inspections, cyclical maintenance, asset management, scheme delivery, winter maintenance, and incident response.
The team assists road users on the road network, delivering engineering design and operational delivery services for over 600 kilometres of road and 1,650 structures, enabling reliable journey times and a high level of customer care.
By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces that minimise disruption, keep people moving, and support thriving communities.
The Highways Maintenance Operative plays an integral part in the installation of temporary traffic management and all aspects of highway maintenance works.
You will be responsible for:
* Undertaking all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils’ works, and litter picking.
* Driving/operating vehicles/plant, ensuring vehicle checks, routing maintenance, and cleaning are carried out.
* Ensuring the safety of yourself and the team, as safety is paramount.
* Keeping records, including drivers’ hours and any necessary paperwork.
It is essential you have an HGV Licence for this position.
