This post suits applicants at ST3-ST4 level with extensive Out-patient experience. Virtual clinics can be undertaken remotely, with at least 1 day on site at Withybush Hospital. Withybush General Hospital is a busy regional hospital providing general services for West Wales (General Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics included). The acute medical intake is mainly unselected and the post holder would be expected to equally share emergency medical admissions with general medical colleagues from all disciplines (Geriatrics, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory). Renal and Neurology support are regional services provided by Swansea hospitals. The hospital includes a large ACCU facility run by Consultant Intensive Care staff who work closely with medical colleagues. Main duties of the job The Pembrokeshire Osteoporosis Service provides specialist bone health management to the population of Pembrokeshire ranging in age from late teenage years to the very elderly. We routinely use virtual consultations and provide face to face assessments if required. Our patient centred practice aims to help patients to make decisions that are right for them. The applicant for this additional post will work closely with the existing team managing their own caseload reviewing new and existing patients and participating in weekly MDT meetings. Osteoporosis Services are developing rapidly within the Health Board and include a Health Board wide Fracture Liaison Service which is currently being implemented. We offer a full range of bone health treatments including non-oral anti-resorptives and different types of anabolic therapy.
