The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre is a newly registered charity, based in West Sussex, set up with the aim to provide care to injured, sick and unwanted reptiles and amphibians across Sussex and Surrounding areas. What difference will you make? As part of the Board of Trustees, you'll play a vital role, helping ensure we can continue our support for Reptiles and Herp Owners who require assistance. What are we looking for? We are looking to recruit more trustees who have a strong empathy towards Reptiles and supporting us with the development of the charity. We welcome applications from candidates from all walks of life and also those who have specific skills and experience in Law and Governance Media and Public Relations Zoology/Herpetology and Veterinary Science Fundraising What will you be doing? Trustees volunteer to provide leadership and ensure good governance. The Board of Trustees makes decisions and sets policies. The Trustees oversee policies, finances, personnel, and promote the charity’s brand. The Trustees are supported by paid staff who plan strategies, workplans, and budgets. Trustees ensure compliance with laws and funder requirements. The role requires a commitment to the charity’s goals and governance. The SRRC currently has three Trustees and is seeking to appoint more as needed. Time commitment Board meetings are held four to five times a year with the capacity to either attend online or in person. It is expected that Trustees will attend at least one board meeting in person. The SRRC hold regular events throughout the year and it is expected that Trustees will attend a number of these annually to meet with the communities we support as well as staff and volunteers.
