Job Title: Senior Engineer - Product Assurance

What you'll be doing:
1. Working closely with Quality Assurance, the Engineering Function, Test and Commissioning, Projects team and MOD in delivering assurance against design intent for build and commissioning phases of submarine production
2. Identifying emergent technical risks to the product
3. Working with the development teams to ensure they identify and implement appropriate mitigation plans for these risks
4. Providing confidence to the senior management team for product and project delivery
5. Providing independent technical scrutiny and conducting assessments of the maturity of the design
6. Working at the relevant stage within the engineering lifecycle to assure that these systems are designed, built, integrated and accepted into service, with the correct level of authority. This will also include working with suppliers and the military users of our equipment
7. Delivering your outputs to agreed time, cost and quality in order to support project and business milestones, and ensuring that your work meets its contractual, safety and environmental obligations
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
8. Good understanding of submarine systems, design and operation, including transverse aspects, safety and certification
9. An underpinning knowledge and understanding of the engineering activities associated with product development and realisation
10. Thorough knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and be able to apply good practices to your work
11. Understanding of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations
Desirable:
12. Capable of achieving the appropriate Professional Institution membership level as detailed in the Role profile, supported by an honours degree or equivalent experience in an appropriate discipline
13. Demonstrable knowledge of submarine design, commissioning, operation, safety/ regulation and safety case architecture
14. Specialist knowledge of Safety or Security in relation to complex systems

Engineering and Product Assurance team:
You will be working with current in-service platforms and legacy equipment including upgrades and modernisation. You will be joining the dynamic team that is rapidly growing. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
