BSA Group is looking to appoint a new Non-Executive Chair when current chair Ed Jones stands down after three highly successful years at the end of December 2025. The role is an opportunity for the right candidate to support BSA Group’s continued development and service delivery for customers.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Non-Executive Chair of BSA Group Services Ltd is a paid role that oversees the Group Board and its committees. The Chair’s responsibilities include:
• Working closely with and mentoring the CEO (including 1-2-1 meetings and annual review)
• Liaising with board committee chairs and other board members
• Planning and chairing Group Board meetings (three per year)
• Attending some board committee meetings
• Chairing the Annual General Meeting
• Representing BSAG externally
• Ensuring, with the CEO, that BSAG fulfils its mission and delivers on agreed strategies and plans
• Dealing with ad hoc matters as required.
• Experience and skills
BSAG Group Board members are appointed based on experience and skills. The Chair of BSAG will be able to:
• Demonstrate success in senior executive roles
• Show service as a company director, trustee or board/committee chair
• Have experience of strategy and business development
• Understand good governance.
It would be beneficial for the Chair to have:
• Experience in regulatory matters and/or public affairs
• Knowledge or experience in education, health education, inclusion or safeguarding.
HISTORY
• 1965 - BSAG began life in 1965 as the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA), a membership organisation for UK state and independent boarding schools. Over 60 years, BSA has grown to have more than 600 boarding school members in 40 countries.
• 2016 - After becoming the leading provider of training services for boarding staff, BSA launched the Accredited Boarding Practitioner (ABP) scheme, which today has more than 3,000 members.
• 2020 - BSA became part of BSA Group (BSAG) when the SACPA (Safeguarding and Child Protection Association) was launched. Later the same year, BAISIS (British Association of Independent Schools with International Students) joined BSAG, and BSA launched its Certified Guardian and Certified Agents schemes. Today SACPA has more than 400 members worldwide, BAISIS membership has doubled to around 120, there are more than 150 BSA Certified Guardians and Certified Agents.
• 2021 - BSAG launched HIEDA (Health in Education Association) and in 2022 TIOB (The Institute of Boarding), which today have around 200 members each. TIOB was the first professional body for staff working in boarding.
• 2023 - BSA Legal Ltd, a subsidiary company regulated to provide visa and immigration advice to schools and individuals was launched.
• 2024 - Launch of IELA (Inclusion and Equity Leadership Association).
