Job Title: Vehicle Emissions & EV Range Test Technician role in Test Services & Site Facilities
Location: Cranfield
Pay: £18.64 - £19.67 per hour
We are recruiting a Vehicle Emissions & EV Range Test Technician for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield. You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role. The contract is ongoing and may run for several years.
Key Responsibilities of the Vehicle Emissions & EV Range Test Technician:
1. Preparation / maintenance of vehicles or components for test in line with local procedures and Nissan Engineering Manuals.
2. Support Testing in static and dynamic conditions to gather accurate, timely, and quality test data/results.
3. Support Evaluation and concern identification including liaison with Test Engineer.
4. Support delivery of Key Performance Indicators for the section.
5. Use skills to provide support to other sections as required.
Vehicle Exhaust Emission & EV Range testing to meet current and future Legislative requirements:
1. Vehicle Chassis Dynamometer operation.
2. Drive Emissions test cycles to WLTP Standard.
3. Real Drive Emissions on-road testing.
4. Emissions analysis measurement.
5. Fundamental understanding of vehicle dis-assembly, assembly, & maintenance techniques.
6. Vehicle system knowledge with the ability to fault find.
7. Understanding of component measurement techniques.
8. Instrumentation set-up.
9. Understanding of vehicle diagnostic tools.
10. Data acquisition & data collation.
11. Facility & instrumentation calibration.
Qualifications & Experience for the Body Electronics Engineer:
1. Experience with Emissions / Test Systems such as Horiba or AVL.
2. Minimum C&G / BTEC L3 would be preferable, ideally in mechanical, Electrical or automotive engineering with a recognised apprenticeship or qualification within a relevant field.
3. Fully proficient in the fundamental practical mechanical / Electrical skills required for this role.
4. Ability to work safely and to comply with legal and company safety policies.
5. A good knowledge of Microsoft Packages including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
6. Excellent organisational skills.
7. Strong attention to detail.
8. Be able to work as part of a team, follow procedures and be able to use initiative to manage and prioritise workload.
