About the role:
As the successful Logistics Assistant, you will be responsible for coordinating shipments, preparing and reviewing documents, and ensuring compliance with import and export regulations. You will ensure that all customers’ orders are handled effectively and efficiently, maintaining customer satisfaction to the highest level.
Main duties and responsibilities:
* Assist in preparing and organising Import/Export documentation, including customs declarations, Import/Export licenses, and shipping documents. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of Export/Import records in accordance with Company objectives.
* Support the team in complying with Import/Export regulations, Trade laws, and Customs requirements.
* Stay informed about upcoming changes in regulations and procedures.
* Liaise with Origin offices, partners, and agents to keep up to date with commercial objectives and current market conditions.
* Monitor and track all shipments to ensure timely arrivals/sailing of goods, updating Customers throughout the process.
* Review incoming and outgoing goods and their documentation to verify compliance with quality standards.
* Communicate with suppliers to track orders and shipments.
* Respond to inquiries from customers regarding their shipments.
* Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency.
* Handle any discrepancies and report issues to the Logistics Manager.
* Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role which may be required by management from time to time.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have a qualification in logistics or a related field. Proven experience in a logistics, customs, or a supply chain role is desirable. You will understand logistics, supply chain processes, import and export regulations, and trade compliance. In addition, you will have effective communication and customer service skills, be proactive, and have a results-oriented approach. We are looking for someone with exceptional organisational and time management skills, the ability to work effectively in a team and under minimal supervision, attention to detail, and the ability to problem-solve. Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are essential. IT literacy, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, is also required. Knowledge of regulations, customs procedures, and international trade laws is essential.
