The Sunflower Suite outpatient department at Queens Hospital BHRUT requires an enthusiastic, highly motivated full-time Band 7 charge nurse who has extensive experience in administering Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) and proven experience in a leadership role. This role will include direct leadership for shifts as well as providing HR management of issues (not exhaustive) to include E-roster performance and sickness management. The post holder will also be required to lead on innovation and development within SACT, including confirming patients' treatments with pharmacy, pre-SACT counselling, and other initiatives. This role is in close conjunction with the Haem/Onc OPD Senior Sister to develop and deliver SACT treatment, and the expectation is a close working relationship with shared goals. The Sunflower Suite is operational Monday-Friday inclusive from 08:00-20:00 and Saturday from 09:00-17:00; the successful post holder would be expected to work hours to cover this service. Both malignant and non-malignant haematology and oncology patients attend the department as both planned and emergency attendance. BHRUT is a large cross-site organisation encompassing Queens Hospital in Romford and King George Hospital in Ilford.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing effective nursing leadership to manage and co-ordinate patient activity, staffing, and finance within the Sunflower Suite outpatient service.
To contribute to the day-to-day running and development of the service through promotion, adaptation, and development of policies, procedures, and guidelines using evidence-based practice and current research.
