Purpose of Role:
The Engineer - Actuator and Mechanical will be talented and enthusiastic, have a hands-on, rigorous approach, and be able to apply their mechanical design and development expertise to provide innovative solutions to the complex engineering problems that we face every day. Working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative, cross-functional team environment, the Engineer - Actuator and Mechanical will help deliver robust products that satisfy the needs of our customers.
Key Accountabilities:
• Contribution of mechanical design expertise and innovation for the new product development (NPD) activities from architecture and concept definition through to detailed modelling, design, test and product qualification, along with manufacturing development and support.
• Generation of detailed specifications for the design of sub-systems and components.
• Optimisation of design solutions and trade-offs for owned part and system areas.
• Hands-on involvement with product design, design verification, testing and characterisation.
• Development of associated test equipment and tooling.
• Meeting of challenging project deadlines while assuring high quality solutions.
• Helping to build core knowledge, best practices and design standards for the team, department and company.
Key Competencies:
• Fundamentals of mechanical engineering including CAD, mathematics and statistics, tolerance analysis, stress/strain, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
• Design and tooling of mechanical components for manufacture using techniques including plastic injection moulding, die casting, extrusion, machining, etc.
• Mechanical modelling, optimisation and design tools (CAE).
• Design and process FMEA.

Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Demonstrable experience in a mechanical engineering (or equivalent) industry.
• Design and development of complex products and systems involving precision custom mechanical components, electronics and/or fluidics.
• Completion of at least one complete product development cycle, from concept through full design, development and industrialisation to successful market introduction.
• Manufacturing methods for both rapid prototyping and mass production.
• Design for Manufacture & Assembly.
• 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
• A competent and productive user of MS Office applications.
• Fluidic system design, manufacture and test (ideal, but not essential)
• FEA/stress/thermal/fluidic modelling (ideal, but not essential)
• Digital printing (ideal, but not essential)
