This opportunity is for our Thales UK Optronics & Missile Electronics (OME) organisation and directly contributes to the on-going development of the Land, Sea and Air products and systems. Defence and armed forces customers rely on us to deliver their full range of defensive systems. From night vision goggles, hand-held thermal imagers and weapon sights to surveillance UAVs and soldier-worn power and data solutions - our teams are endlessly supporting innovation evolution of a whole array of products!

For this role, we are keen to hear from candidates who have recently graduated or maybe you have just started out in the Mechanical domain and are now looking for a new challenge in an exciting company where you can really develop and build a career. The successful candidate will be a talented Junior Mechanical Engineer based in Glasgow with interest in working on all product stages from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning.
The goal is to design and fabricate mechanical components of innovation and excellence. Our teams are at the forefront of technology, creating solutions for the future for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement)
2. Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements
3. Produce outline designs
4. Conduct experiments methodically, analyze data and interpret results
5. Test and evaluate theoretical designs
6. Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems
7. Evaluate final product's overall performance, reliability and safety
8. Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions
9. Estimate budget and scope of project
10. Solicit observations from operators
11. Prepare product reports and documentation
12. Engage in lifelong learning and develop new theories or methods
