The Landing Gear Market specializes in the design, qualification, manufacture and repair and overhaul of landing gears and flight critical components to a customer base that extends from the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to the Operators in both the commercial and military markets.

Buyer is responsible for the development and execution of Category strategies as designated, that will drive long-term improvements in Quality, Cost and Delivery, with engagement and support of key stakeholders that enhance business competitive and commercial performance, its customers and its suppliers. Operates across the full product / service life cycle ensuring supplier commercial issues are resolved effectively and efficiently. Manages the sourcing of parts / services including the raising and management of all purchase documents within the ERP or other Procurement systems where designated, ensuring adherence to production milestone requirements.
Main responsibilities:
• Develop and execute Category strategies to support business goals for New Product Introduction and serial production, ensuring improvements in Quality, Cost, and Delivery.
• Lead and coordinate supplier sourcing processes and relationships, fulfilling Procurement Managers' and Operational Buyers' responsibilities.
• Ensure supply chain within assigned categories meets annual Purchase cost commitments using a total cost of acquisition approach.
• Resolve cost issues and maintain supplier pricing within the ERP system, consulting with Procurement Managers.
• Oversee delivery performance of suppliers within designated categories, supporting programme milestone and serial production requirements.
• Manage quality performance of suppliers within responsible categories, consulting with Procurement and Quality Managers to address issues.
• Support departmental budget holders in Capex procurement, defining preferred suppliers and drafting contracts/SLAs to maximise value and minimise risk.
• Ensure adherence to and continuous improvement of procurement processes and procedures, maintaining systems to meet KPIs and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Skills & Requirements:
• CIPS Qualified (or willing to work towards)
• Category strategy writing experience, including value opportunity identification
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Understands and operates supplier relationship and category management
• Has a proven track record in delivering results, on time and on budget.
• Understands value levers and cost drivers
• Understands manufacturing processes and cost drivers
• Understands total cost of acquisition impact
• Contract and supplier negotiation experience
