We are now recruiting for a Rent Recovery Assistant to join our team on a fixed term contract for up to 12 months. The current post holder has been seconded into a new role. As part of the Housing Income and Leaseholder Management team, you will provide income recovery services, focusing on arrears prevention and low-level arrears management, which contribute to the wider income management team objective of minimising arrears and maximising tenancy sustainment.

What you will do in this role:
* Manage a caseload of rent accounts to minimise arrears through application of rent recovery processes.
* Negotiate with tenants to establish sustainable payment plans to ensure tenancies are sustained and rent income maximised for the Authority.
* Provide guidance and support to tenants around claiming Housing Benefit and Universal Credit to ensure tenants receive appropriate support.
* Work proactively to ensure tenancies are started well to maximise sustainment and reduce arrears.
* Serve notices and visit tenants as part of the rent recovery process.
* Liaise with both internal departments and external agencies to ensure rent arrears are reduced and tenancies sustained.
* Ensure that Direct Debit processes are followed to facilitate the accurate and timely payment of rent by tenants.
* Prepare paperwork for court cases in support of the IMAs.
What we are looking for in the successful candidate:
You will have demonstrable experience working in an income management, or similar, environment and will be educated to A Level or hold a level 3 qualification in a relevant subject. You will be comfortable working with numbers, have good communication skills, and take a problem-solving approach to your work.
